Hi, me again! I feel we're quite alike in so many ways, I felt instantly when you first contacted - 'this person knows exactly how I feel'! I'm 45 years old and I have neck and lower back problems too, however my back problem is mainly due to a re-occurring old bad fracture in my sacrum and to be honest I firmly believe my current leg issues are adding to it also. I was also diagnosed as having cervical degenerative disc disease in the c6/7 roughly a couple of years ago, but since being in this and looking at other CP sites degeneration is part and parcel of adults with spastic CP....so is my neck caused by my CP or is it general wear and tear as I've been lead to believe? Jackie😊

Hi

Yes I think we are . I had a injury at work which started my neck pain but now I feel I have not recovered because of my Cp and poor posture mine is c3-c7. Giving up work had been so hard and upsetting but the pain is really bad some days . I also have problems with my lower back and lower limbs.

I want a better quality of life not working in pain and then just sleeping to go to work again.

I don't know anyone who understands so it's nice :)

Hi Topsy257🙋🏼

Yeh, it is so great to finally be able to talk to someone openly who doesn't dismiss you on how you're feeling with everything that's going on, but actually understands purely because they can relate to it in almost every way. Don't get me wrong I am married and sadly he has his own condition and can relate to a degree, but I think it's the 'progressing' - Oh did I say that bad word!😤, that's bamboozling and hurting him....seeing me in pain and discomfort so much and over quite a short period really!

I totally get what you mean about not recovering because of your CP. Mostly I find I can fully recover, however it takes double or longer the average time due to my mine....not fair!😰 I can't imagine what it was like for you to have made that decision about your job, as like you, I love my job and getting out with other people. I'm also struggling with it especially of late. The thing with my ankle aswell is, it stiffens up along with the pain when I'm not using it, but literally a couple of minutes after using it again, it eases off and then my ankle is back to being intensely sore again because I'm on my feet....can't blooming well win - and that's when friends and work colleagues (who are great) don't understand!😤

I'm a very bad sleeper at night, (never used to be) and the thing is I desperately need my sleep especially with having epilepsy aswell!😩 So between the pain, discomfort and lack of sleep, work is a total nightmare! However every other spare moment I've got I don't/want to do anything because I'm that tired and all I do is basically rest or catch up sleep! I'm on very strong painkillers and nerve dampeners which haven't helped much and probably won't be helping with my sleep probs either!

May I ask a personal question if you don't mind my asking, just say no if you don't want to?

Were you in your works pension, if so, did you get medical retiral, i.e.pensioned off? Just thinking that might help you a bit!😉

Take care😊xx

I'm so sorry your having to go through this. It must be awful for you, I can't even begin to imagine what it must be like. I hope I didn't add to your upset? I too work with the local government as a payroll officer and my works hat came on last night checking you got everything you are due!😳😬 Hope to speak with you soon. Take care Jackie😊x

How are you this week?

My head's still spinning about what they said at the visit to the hospital. Trying to get my head around it all. On top of this since end of September I've been getting pains and heat in my right breast. GP confirmed it as Mastitis however it hasn't gone away. So now on second lot of antibiotics for two weeks instead of the one and awaiting to see the hospital to confirm this! I'm not too worried as GP stands by his grounds with how I describe it. It's weird I've had quite a few viral infections in my body over the last while😕

How have you been? Had confirmation in about your Ill Health yet?😊x

You should hear from the Occ health pretty soon. I imagine your work will be similar to mine. I thought I'd put my works hat on again and let you know (just in case you weren't aware😕) there are 2 tiers when getting assessed:-

1. You can't do your current job, therefore you wouldn't get pensioned off as if you were of pension age, because you may be fit to do another job at some point.

2. You are not fit for ANY job, therefore you get your full pension as if you are of pension age.

I hope this helps and you don't think I'm butting in, I'm only thinking about you.

I've not been to the hospital yet - 18/11/15 - makes me even less concerned.

It'd be nice if we were to catch up more privately I think, either by FB messenger or email....let me know what you think?😊xx
