Can Cerebral Palsy affect your organs like heart,lungs,plus cause more headaches than normal? Thank you

My son is 13 and has CP so any help would be great being a single mom..My sons is on the full left side being one leg and arm shorter than other..Thanks

Hi there,

It sounds like you need to get your son check out for any secondary conditions. CP can affect stamina and can put extra strain on the body. However I don't think it directly affects organs etc Check out Scope page for further info: scope.org.uk/help-and-infor... and seek further medical advice.

Hi

I agree with Rachel - maybe ask your GP to check for secondary conditions. CP can indirectly affect stamina - it may be more difficult for your son to exercise and if he is overweight or immobile I guess this could affect organs. But apart from that CP is a brain disorder that affects nerves - so I doubt it has any direct effect on organs. But do check with your GP. Very best wishes Nuala

I was thinking he is exercising way to much..i get upset with all the sports he starts up again in Sept.He is a good weigh for his age a very active child..I am one of those mom's who is glad when he takes a day and plays on his xbox.

It is always best to get a second opinion on health issues especially when one has cp
