I have liver disease and slight pancreas damage, stopped drinking 5 months ago. Eat well, work out, good weight and muscle tone. Any tips on diet, certain food etc, anything I can do to help my body heal. I eat fruit and veg, lemon water,my prescribed b vits, drink green juice in the morning, have cut back on the sugar, only eat lean proteins,no pastry, sasuages, bacon or any of that. Breakfast would be 0% fat greek yogurt with berries and a few almonds, lunch would be eggs in some form, dinner chicken and vegetables, steamed or stir fried. I make casseroles with loads of veg. I use Low salt.....

I know this is not the British Liver Trust forum (which is much more active by the way) but the BLT has lots of good resources on what to do to look after yourself when you have liver disease. britishlivertrust.org.uk/in...

What I would say though is it would be better if you got to see a liver specialist dietician who can formulate individualized help for you, what to eat depends on the state of your liver, the needs of someone who is 'looking after their liver' is totally different for someone say with 'fatty liver' or someone who might be showing signs of decompensation and/or preparing for transplant. Everyone is different.

Hi Dean, Hope that you are doing well! I've been going through your posts and reading through. As you can probably tell by now that I'm trying to connect some dots and get some clarity/answers. you posted twice before this one and were seeking some answers related to ALD. In this post you mentioned about being sober for 5 months. However in your next post you mentioned about developing ascites and decomp liver symptoms. May I please ask you about your experience, did your liver get worse after quitting for 5-6 months. In other words did your symptoms show up after being sober for a decent time? Thanks in advance!

Hey there,

So I presented with decompensated cirrhosis and ascites in February 2020 and I stopped drinking in the June 2020. I had one drain, was on water tablets for a few months and then came off them because of the side effects(man boobs 🤦‍♂️🤣). Im compensated now MELD 8 Child Pugh A. The ascites never returned and no varcies. I’m fit and well and just over two years sober. I plan to pay to have a private fibroscan later this year. Feel free to ask me anymore questions 😊👍

Very nice to hear about your progress. I have an ultrasound scheduled for the whole abdomen tomorrow. Feeling very down, fatigue and joint pains from last 2 week. I was doing fine but I abused alcohol again in last 2 months. One evening while I was drunk for whole day without any food, I had a sudden sharp shooting pain on right side. I'm not sure whether it is my kidney or liver! Alcohol is a poison, I just miss the social aspect of things!

It was fatty liver couple of years back and now I'm working on getting a new diagnosis! Last week Liver Panel Test showed AST of 69 and ALT of 105
