Hi. I have joined this community to seek some idea as to what to expect for my friend. He was diagnosed with ALL earlier this year. All very sudden. He went through chemo regimes and subsequent stem cell transplant two months ago. All bloods and recovery going well. Last bloods about a week ago - all fine.
Just heard he was admitted to hospital in Sussex, whilst taking a short break visiting family. He has today transfered to London hospital that he is under for leukemia care. His wife is saying he is experiencing sudden onset of a very similar pain as when he did prediagnosis. He does have type 1 diabetes which he has had since aged 17.
How likely, given treatment programme and blood results listed above, is it that the leukemia is back? Could this be sudden onset of rejection of stem cell transplant, though bloods have given no cause for concern? Any insight into what could be happening would be helpful, not for passing to my friend or his family, but for me to be prepared for possible outcomes. I have PMR and take steroids both of which can cause anxiety. My anxiety is worse when dealing with the unknown, hence my wanting to know possibilities and try to prepare for them. I belong to the healthunlockedPMR/GCA community which is a fabulous supportive group - hence why I am seeking info / insight from you guys / girls. Many thanks.
