Can I ask for your views and experience if possible,I was a follower of LCHF from march 2021 to early 2022,when after medical episodes,it was discovered I had gall stones and from then on I had to cut out the basics of the LCHF way of eating due to the fat content,my weight has since increased and I now weigh about 4 stone heavier ,I need to get rid of the weight, but cant prune down the basics of what eating plan I should follow, I have looked at SW but this includes carbs etc,its making me quite anxious to see clearly what I should do, there is no surgery planned for me as without the fat,my attacks are a lot lower, from past experience the members of this group have a wealth of information/experience, perhaps you can suggest something I've not even thought about, or someone has also experienced this problem, many thanks in anticipation

I had my gallbladder removed some years ago, but can still remember the pain of the 'attacks'. If I'd known then, what I know now, I would probably have started then with a low carb diet and very gradually have increased the fat content of my diet. I ended up having my gallbladder removed, but would have preferred a more natural resolution to the problem. However, having no gallbladder and an LCHF diet poses no problems for me at all.

Don't forget you have 4st/56lbs/25,401g of body fat, which is plenty for your needs for a long time, so apart from the satiety/taste effect dietary fat isn't so important.

Thank you moreless,at this time there is no plan for removal, cant say Im disappointed as who really wants an operation unless its necessary ! it was suggested to demand its removal so as to move forward, that's not for me, I suppose Im looking for an adaptable low carb way of eating that has hardly any fat in it, then that automatically moves me towards a low fat diet,Im a funny thing, need to get my thoughts straightened out.

I think you should be able to gradually increase the fat content of your meals, because you need the gallbladder to keep flushing to remove the stones. There will probably be pain to start with, but that should lessen with time.

You could maybe find some exogenous bile salts too, to speed things along?

Not every stone can be passed through the common bile duct, if one got stuck not only would you be in agony but there would be no choice but to have an ERCP or surgery.

Do you have Diabetes ? Since when you start eating LCHF diet and Why ?? You should check quality of your Fat you eat. Should be m ok unsaturated or unsaturated.

Do not cut fat and increase carbs. How much protein do you eat ?? Most likely gallstones are made up of cholesterol. Try to cut down direct cholesterol in food you eat. Eat one medium red onion ( raw ) and 4 to 6 garlic buds every day. Check your heart and neck arteries for any blockages or watch out . Find a natural ( Ayurvedic -- herbal ) supplements to dissolve gall stones. Go to two or three health food stores and talk to owner / manager.

hmmm. is the Gallstone a single one or more? what are the sizes measured in ultrasound? if you reduce taking direct intake of fats like use of oils in cooking, and also food fats (even vegetable fats) may cause pains at times, if they are high enough. How much high etc, not sure, but as long as you don't feel any immediate symptoms of pain, vomiting sensation after eating food that contain fat, its safe.

There are are currently (as far my research literature survey) three types of treatments exists (1) remove gallbladder itself (many doctors suggest this simply, as its easy for them), (2) remove stones from the bile duct if they are came out of gallbladder but stuck in bile duct, this is possible with Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) [Reference: H. Saito, K. Noda, K. Ogasawara, S. Atsuji, H. Takaoka, H. Kajihara, J. Nasu, S. Morishita, I. Matsushita and K. Katahira, Clin J Gastroenterol, 2018, 11, 172-177], and (3) Oral medication tablets, Urso-deoxycholic and chenodeoxycholic acid, but the recurrence rate is approximately 10% in 1 year [Reference : L. Greiner, Berlin, Heidelberg, 1991].

i was detected with a single stone more than 15 years back and still there, slightly grown but never gave any major symptoms. doctors luckily suggested as long as not effect of it let it be. i also adamant NOT to remove any part of body which is naturally given by god. who are we to remove, as long as utmost requirement? i am started using the Tablets, but deferred for some time due to some other general health condition, and to avoid different types of medication same time will start again. and see the impact after 3 months. And if you are healthy otherwise and if you capable for doing simple yoga do "Kapalbhati" and "Anuloma viloma" and make it a part of your daily habit. I am 95% sure, along with your LOW fat diet, high fiber greenery, and high-fibre carbs (very limited just to satiate) like Millets, dark brown rice (never use white rice-unless you are very fascinate about it may be fix just one day per month, but again little amount). Whatever be the diet, MAKE SURE GREENERY vegetables, less or no oil cooking, reduce salt to maximum extent, you can see improvement in Gallstone melting, i strongly believe, i am still under experimental stage so cannot tell any result.
