First week of LCHF completed

As I have written before, I couldn’t imagine a meal without carbs. We always had bread /pasta/rice or potatoes with every meal. A month ago I started the 12 week NHS diet and for first few weeks did really well and then it slowed to 1lb loss which demoralised me.

Last Monday I accepted Lytham’s challenge to follow TheAwfulToad’s intro to LCH. I have reduced my carb intake significantly probably beyond what was suggested for week one. It wasn’t as difficult as I first feared. My appetite has decreased and I don’t seem to be as obsessed with mealtimes.

The best part is I have lost 4 and 3/4 lbs - in a week!

I know that rate of weight loss won’t continue but it has given me such a boost!

WHOOP WHOOP ! That's AWESOME ! :-)

So pleased your appetite has decreased and you're not obsessed with meal times, it's quite liberating isn't it?

All hail a good boost! :-) x

Yay! That's a textbook result and a really impressive weight loss. You're right, it won't continue at that rate, but it will continue ... as will the other benefits that you've noticed.

Pretty much everyone says "oh ... that wasn't nearly as bad as I thought", but getting over the initial fear can be quite intimidating!

Thanks TAT for taking the time to write the plan. I definitely wouldn’t have considered it otherwise. I’m a yo-yo dieter highly dependant on carbs

Hi Hollysgran , just saw your post and made me at ease as I lost 3.5 lbs in the 1st week of the plan and my appetite reduced a lot and I don’t seems to be obsessed as much about what we having for dinner / lunch anymore 😂😂😂

Isn’t it brilliant MccHa. I know a lot of it will be water as TAT said but I was really strict calorie controlling for nearly 4 weeks beforehand. No alcohol; one biscuit treat per day; no meals in restaurants!! But... I still relied on carbs as I was making main meals from recipes in A Pinch of Nom. A lot of chickpeas and tomato based sauces!

Brilliant! I hope to follow the same diet as my son and I have piled on weight since March. I'm lucky as I'm gluten intolerant, so it may be an asset to me in the Low carb side, can only manage a little Sourdough or Rice noodles, nothing breadcrumbed or cake, pies, biscuits, etc.

My diet lately has been mainly fruit and cheese, with meat and salads.

Cheers, midori

Go for it midori.

Well done. My weight just went down and down till I reached a normal BMI, then it stopped all on it's own and been stuck at the same weight/BMI ever since. I love this way of eating.

Actually I say BMI, I just go on the fit of my belt.

The other great thing about low carb is you get to buy a whole new wardrobe, well that's sort of good and bad/finance-wise !
