I'm glad you enjoyed it!

But a little confused, considering where you posted this: how can you not enjoy black pudding, tasty little protein and fat bombs, full of iron? I hope you skipped the toast, too 🤞

I sinned, I ate the toast but it was sourdough and the beans 😱 Have never liked the black pudding!

ha - nobody eats the black pudding, ever. Well, except subtle_badger.

I usually nibble them a bit just cos I feel guilty about wasting food ...

I'm from peasant stock, mixed in with hipster. Both lead to nose-to-tail eating (though I no longer eat brains). I even enjoy tripe as part of yum cha (but God save me from English style in a white sauce 🤢)

Flash-back to me in January, sadly reading the carbs in haggis, and realising that burns night was just going to be whisky and 'neeps.

I have been known to monitor carbs in senna tablets🤣 But today was a celebration. First meal out and 50 years ago this morning was in labour with my son!

I’m with you, black pudding is great carbs or not. I ate the black pudding my husband had on his breakfast on Sunday - he wasn’t quick enough to order something in place of bp. I would have left the beans though.

If your husband ever turns down the black pudding, you can send it my way 😁

Good grief. The LCHF group is apparently full of people who actually like black pudding. I always knew you lot were a bunch of weirdos. :)

Slightly amusing anecdote:

We have a thing here called 豬血糕 (literally, 'pig blood cake') which is basically identical to black pudding, except that it contains rice instead of oats/barley. So, some years back we (my then-gf and me) were having a holiday back in the UK, and we stopped somewhere in Scotland for breakfast - which of course included black pudding. It should be noted at this point that 豬血糕 was one of ex-gf's favourite snacks. She poked the black pudding around on her plate with a "WTF is this?" expression, tasted it, and decided it was horrible.

Moral of the story: black pudding isn't nice even if you like black pudding.

Still can’t imagine why you would want to eat it!

It tastes delicious, it's full of protein and iron. And carbs, sadly, so I won't be restocking after I have finished the packet I bought after seeing your picture.

A little of what you fancy does you good! 🤣xx

Salad I made including the black pudding I purchased after reading this post.

Looks a dream apart from the bp!! We’ve just had salad but bog standard, lettuce etc, chicken and ham.

Original plan did not include black pudding, but it added complexity. The bacon was just salt and crunch with a little unami!

in reply toSubtle_badger

Still beats radish, little gem, tomato, cucumber etc.

They are all good to me.

Roasted radish is the first low carb alternative to potatoes I have enjoyed.

I had a tomato, cucumber and olive salad in mayonnaise for brekkie yesterday.

I used little gem leaves in my BLT. It was amazing.

I'd have eaten the black pudding. The nicest black pudding I've ever eaten was in Jerez in Spain and it came as a surprise, I don't speak Spanish and thought I'd ordered something else but it was memorable. Shame it's off the menu for me now.
