I imagine a few of us are wondering what our ancestors ate. I found this new research interesting, baked "potatoes" 170,000 years ago.

Absolutely incredible they managed to figure out what the species was ... and that that species (or something like it) is still around.

There are sooo many different tuberous vegetables that are both edible and palatable. I grow sweet potatoes, taro, cassava, arrowroot, and ube (dioscorea alata) just for amusement value. A lot of people don't realise that sweet potato and taro leaves can both be eaten, and they're very tasty. The tubers/rhizomes I mostly just leave in the ground :)

There are a few interesting articles on this. It would seem that our ancestors ate a wider variety of foods than we do nowadays.
