Counting carbs - 2 questions please

So I’ve been advised this week that UK labels already deduct fibre from the carbs, so the carb value printed is net carbs ... is this true?

If I am working out carbs of a recipe, do I do total carbs minus total fibre, or add up the net carbs of each ingredient?

If anyone has the answers I’ll be very grateful. Thank you.

Yes, that's correct. All you're interested in is the carbs that will actually elicit an insulin response (also known as "net carbs") ... which is the "Carbohydrate" number shown on the label. Fibre (if any) is stated separately, and can be ignored.

If in doubt, carb counts for common foods are easily available online - if you're not already using it, one of the best resources is DietDoctor.com.

Thank you, yes I’m often referring to DietDoctor, I think it’s taking a while for it all to sink in as it’s such a change for me. The penny is beginning to drop 😂👍
