Hello. I am not aware of any special diets that our kids should be eating. I would suggest a good balanced diet of healthy foods. I would imagine being over weight would not help just because of the additional strain this puts on joints and on the body in general.

My understanding is that JIA has similar rates in all countries and cultures. This would indicate that diet is not a factor.

If anyone knows differently I would love to hear.

Hello.

My daughter has JIA and is 14, she was 11 when she was diagnosed. There is no specific diet that children should follow, the most important thing is to make sure they have a healthy balanced diet. the JIA at NRAS website has a useful section on diet. jia.org.uk/resource/diet/

Have you looked at the website link above. There is a lot of useful information on it. I would also talk to your daughter’s doctor next time you see them and ask their opinion.

In our house we don’t try to avoid anything in particular, but try to eat a healthy balanced diet, but like all families we do allow ourselves some treats too.

Not what you're looking for?
