I have a blood test on Monday and I'm hoping for a nice high count to see me through the festive period. I try not to dread having them but approaching tests do tend to blot the weekend horizon for me. Anyway, fingers crossed for a good solid 40+ (my last was 26).

Hellodave,

I know exactly what you mean about feeling apprehensive before a blood test but I think that I have at last come to realise that there is no point in worrying too much about things we just cannot control. It is easier said than done but I have come to realise that the best thing is to just get on with life and don`t think too much about what might be as far as the blood test goes. Try to make sure that you keep busy so that it does not give you too long to dwell on the blood test .

Anyway, best wishes .

Well said Anthony, I completely agree. There is nothing you can do about the result so do not worry, take it in your stride and get on with your life. Counts can vary from day to day

Mine is usually around 10. If it is up I say hallellua thats good for me. If it down, arrange another test sooner than normal and keep an eye on the bruising and do not worry unless you bleed.

Good luck.

Thanks, guys. 29 was the count so, although it looks like my base level has dropped, I'm seem pretty stable.

HelloDave,

Glad to hear that your platelet levels have at least stabilised. What have you and your specialist decided to do in respect of the way forward. I know that my specialist told me that he would never prescribe any medication until my platelet level went below 20 but that was basically an agreement we reached between ourselves. It was based on my non risky occupation, lifestyle and no other medical issues/problems. Each case is on it's own merits.

Anyway please keep in touch and best wishes
