how would you know if your brain was bleeding?
Sorry cant answer personally but you could try google search
I am told you would know because you would have an horrendous headache - a headache not like the "normal" headaches we sometimes get.
I believe you would have a build up of pressure resulting in a really bad headache. I had meningitis as a result of some ITP treatment and that caused pressure in my brain. The pain was very bad and I had an aversion to lights. As Mags says it is not a normal headache. You will feel very unwell and will know it is something more serious.
the bleeding in the brain could be slow or fast depending on the site and the cause. The main symptoms are headache, vomiting, confusion ( not being able to think straight), sometimes there could be blurring of vision.
ITP by itself does not cause intracranial bleeding and bleeding in the brain is rarely a presenting event in ITP. So do not be scared just try to keep the platelets above 20 k and always check your blood pressure regularly.
thank you for your coment im pregnant with my third child and my platletes were 6 I hit my head and had a head ache for 4 days I had an infusion of imunniglobin 120g Saturday and sunday and still have a head ache my platletes have gone up to 30 but by Monday my platletes will below 20 again I have 10 weeks left. Also both my other children had itp when born because my antibodies crossed over my son had a brain bleed at platletes of 20 im scared this will happen to my third child.
I have chronic ITP 30k range and diagnosed Migraines...I have a slight headache for days at a time some weeks. Then serious throbbing that ends with me in bed for the day. Its not always convinent with a 14month old daughter....My migraines have been increasing in frequency and intensity since my daughter was born last year. I'm on topamax as a prevented medication and Im just in the 2nd month so i have on more to go....But I feel like I have a headache everyday lately along with slight nausea, which I have medication for as well...This post slightly worries me...
AS far as ITP crossing over to unborn children... I recently gave birth to our daughter. I had 11 infusion of IVIG I gave birth via c-section with an epidural to a health baby after 18 hours of labor. Your post is the first I've read of antibodies crossing over and causing ITP in babies of mothers with ITP. very interesting posts that have me doing further research into my own headaches and readings of itp and pregnancy.
