The simple answer Davy is NO. My specialists all seem to suggest that because every case is so different and we all respond to different treatments, drugs, even foods in so many different ways, it is impossible to make any absolute conclusions about homeopathic remedies/treatments.I would also say that it is imperative that any ITP sufferer fully consults their medical specialist before taking anything at all like herbal, homeopathic remiedies.

Hi Davy. Anthony is absolutely correct in his advice and synopsis. There is no evidence that homeopathic remedies are effective. Most consultants would not accept they can have any beneficial affects. Equally, there are none to suggest otherwise other than the effect on the mentle state of patients which can make one feel better and in some instances can work for that reason, mind over matter. So hey ask your consultant and try and if your count improves, great. If not, you know what to do. I suspect that being homeopathic, most will not have any adverse effects on the blood system, but do make sure first, that they do not have side effects of causing bleeds or other side effects that could be detrimentle. Hi Davy

I once bought papaya leaf tea and papaya supplement tablets, both purported to raise platelet count. I did take them both - despite them being disgusting - and they had no effect on the platelet count.

YES YES YES

I had a homeopath treat me throughout my second pregnancy. In my first pregnancy my platelets bounced around but were generally between 28 - 70 and from 6 months they were under 50). The hospital were enormously worried about the prospect of a bleed at the time of delivery, the whole thing was a nightmare, very stressful and I delivered with a count of 32 and lost a lot of blood. Second time round I had a lovely homeopath. She saw me every 6 weeks through my pregnancy. She gave me lots of remedies, many focused on the effects of radiation from x rays and scans (which i have had a lot of) and i had to take daily "blood liquiescence" and "spleen liquiescence". I stayed between 80-100 until my 8th month and then my platelets started to deteriorate so i delivered the baby early. But for me homeopathy had a real effect.
