I have tried many medications for my ITP to which none of them have worked. Prednisone,,,dexamethasone.....IVIG.....Rituximab.....Revolade.......BUT lots of side effects. Seven months ago I had my spleen removed. Since then my platelets are hovering around 20 - 30 with no medications. I have not had any issues with bleeding or bruising. I am in my 70’s. Has anyone else had a similar experience after having a splenectomy.? Do you have any recommendation as to what has helped increase your platelets. Thank you in advance.

I have not had my spleen removed. Supposedly, Promacta (eltrombopag) is a drug some use after spleen removal. In fact, my insurance probably won’t help pay for the drug unless I get my spleen removed. The drug is very expensive here in the US.
