In August we will be 4 years post splenectomy. In summer 2017 my then 10 year old brother had had his spleen removed. he went from. one of the most severe cases of ITP in the United Kingdom to a very healthy young boy. he is on medication but no bruising or bleeding have happened since.

We are from the UK, Manchester to be exact. After every possible treatment including new trial medicines which had all failed we were then told to have the splenectomy. it wasn't really an option as he was at a very very unstable stage, internal bleeding in the Brain was a very high possibility so therefore we opted for the splenectomy and through gods ,mercy it was a success.
That is great news, so pleased to hear that your brother is doing well. Wonderful.
