Has anyone had tranexamic acid to treat nosebleeds. My son had been prescribed it for if he has a bad spell but am always a bit anxious about giving medicines.

Tranexamic acid
I was given Tranexamic Acid for a while when I had some bleeding but I don't remember having any particular side-effects. I cannot even say that it was that successful as it didn't seem to cause me to clot that well.
Hi iv given it to my daughter a few times for bloody mouth blisters it works without any side effects that iv noticed.
Thanks for these replies, its good to hear that the side effects have not been a problem so its worth a try if he is having a bad time with his nosebleeds, who knows if it will help but its quite nice to have something to try
I had it when count was under 10k. It makes the platelets you have work a little harder at clotting. No side effects and I was on 4 x 500mg per day. These are safer than the possible alternative.
Thats good to hear, thanks
I found it helped to stop nosebleeds and I also used it a couple of times when I was having dental work done. I had no side affects that I was aware of.
I have found it brilliant and have noticed no side effects. I just took it when menstrual bleeding was uncontrollable and it really got me back on track . My feel is that it is very non-invasive, doesnt mess with your system in a big way and does what it needs to do! (I take it now when I play contact sport in case i get a bash - but that is self prescribed)
I've had ITP for years, I keep a stock of Tranexamic Acid for when I get nosebleeds, I take it for three days. I have never had any side affects. I know its a bummer when you have a cold and have to blow your nose.
I used it for several yrs to control menstrual bleeding without any side effects. It doesn’t stops bleeding but controls the amount of flow.
Aw thankyou all for your helpful comments, you've been a huge help and I know I can use it if he needs it. TA
