I certainly hope that doctors do take notes down on whatever they do to us, what the outcome is, and how to help a next patient. In that way all our suffering will have not been in vain. Strongs,my friend.

Hi. I've now had quite a few IVIG infusions. My consultant tends not to order them unless my platelets drop below about 17. The first few times I got a headache and pain in my back and hips about 2 days later that lasted a couple more days. Some blood centres will premedicate with antihistamines but mine doesn't so I now take an antihistamine on the day of the infusion and for about 3 days afterwards and I no longer get the pains. The infusion itself is boring but I've never had any issues. They will monitor you quite closley so don't worry. The good news is your platelets should rise for 2 to 3 weeks.

I've also had a bone marrow biopsy which was unpleasant but not as painful as I was expecting. The result confirmed that my bone marrow was fine and that my condition was ITP. Good luck, stay positive - these are all steps forward :-)

Stay Strong. That's the only thing u need to check. BM biopsy . . After that. it went good and shows good result. then the symptoms u are facing matters. like active bleeding or bruising .

Hi topography 52, IVIG infusion is generally generally given over 4 hours with premeditation of Benadryl IV, my only side effect was extreme fatigue and of course I had no response. I've assisted with many bone marrow biopsys generally with IV sedation, patients tolerate well. I haven't had a BM biopsy as my doctor and I agree the bleeding risk is not worth information gained and wouldn't change the diagnosis. Has your doctor discussed Nplate injections? kyriak51:)
