Welcome to ITP. Your 66 is a good number. Unless you are having bleeding issues or other symptoms, most doctors won't treat until under 30 or lower. I've had treatments, & I wish I hadn't because of side effects. Since I'm not really a bleeder, I don't plan on any other treatments unless I get into single digits again. I was diagnosed at 8, but my count stays around 30-40. I've had IVIG, Prednisone, & one round of Rituxan. I have some lingering side effects from rituxan. Fatigue is constant, but I'd prefer that to more & worse sidefects of medications.

HI Kine97. Curious to know if the Rituxan was the cause of your fatigue. I had 4 bags of Rituxan over 4 weeks and not sure if they are the cause of my fatigue. It seems hard to I know which meds are what cause. Thanks, Denise

Hi Denise,

My ITP is my cause of fatigue (and getting older, I'm 54). Although I did have more after treatments, along with very achy joints. I believe I had ITP for a while before diagnosis. I would wake up from sleeping, thinking about when I could nap & go to bed again. I napped any chance I got. Medication I'm sure makes it worse. Pred keeps you awake, which makes the fatigue even worse. Good luck to you!

Hi Kaya12, Here in Australia we are usually left alone above 30. If you are bleeding and higher they will give treatment. My count averages around 50 and only had treatment when I started bleeding it was actually 112! I had been taking Tumeric supplements which is an anti-coagulent. I didnt know that.

Hi there. All that has been said is good news for you. I lived for 10 years plus with a count of 10 and no meds. My advice is go and get on with your life and enjoy it and only worry is you start bleeding but be aware of the condition.

Yes, I echo these replies. If your symptoms are not bad bleeding wise, avoid treatment , there's little danger at 66 I think you can even have surgery at around these levels. Just make sure you get a blood test if you see bruises or get really tired in case they fall dramatically . Hope you stay at 66, I would be majorly happy at that outcome
