I keep loosing my voice, at least twice a month, but this time it hurts to talk and eat. What do I need to do to stop this?
Are you taking medicine for itp
Have you checked to see if you have strept throat? You need antibiotics to cure this.
You have severe ITP. Are you taking any medics for ITP? It could be anything related to infection which needs a doctors help. Doctors don't advise ant-biotics to very low platelets patients. Best is consult a doctor.
Think you should take the advice of mahin456 and consult your doctor, alway best to err on the side of caution and get checked out.
See your consultant if it is getting worse.NickyD
Yes off to GP today, so he might be able to see what's going on, then next time I go to the hospital is November, as they think I'm ok to be left. Different doctors, Different ideas, I guess. Thank you all for taking time out for me.
Hi Billteapot I must have seen at least 7 different Dr's and consultants at my hospital alone. I never went to my GP for advice on ITP. I have had numerous pills and injections at different doses over different periods. It has taken me over two and a half years to come up with something that is beginning to even start to resemble normality. Hang on in there and ask to be seen at the hospital or where there is someone who does know about ITP. NickyD
Your count is great and no need to worry about that. However, constantly losing your voice is something else entirely and needs to be looked at separately. Don't let any doctor say it's the ITP but it just isn't.
Hi Billteapot
I agree with Camden girl that your count is good. My haematologist would regard a count of 100 as being the lower end of an acceptable/normal count and you shouldn't experience any major problems with a count above 40. You mentioned you have been on steroids. I have been off steroids since november but have had lots of sore throats and cold like symptoms recently which have taken a lot longer than usual to shake off. As the purpose of the steroids are to dampen our immune systems, I have accepted that I may be prone to viral illnesses and that they may take longer to shift. Maybe this is what is going on with you? It would definitely be worth getting a check up with your GP though just in case you need something like a course of antibiotics.
hope you will be feeling better soon Janet
