Too many illnesses for 1 person.

Hi, my name is Jason and I am 42. I fell into a coma 5 yrs ago after a very nearly fatal bleed from an artery in my liver. They managed to save my life with seconds to spare. I woke up and vomited approximately 5 pints of pure blood up, it came up and out my mouth like a fire hose. By the time I was blue lighted by 2 police cars a police motorbike and 3 ambulances to the hospital. They immediately put me on a bed that turned upside down to try and get blood to my brain as quick as possible as they estimated I only had 3 pints left. They managed to stop the bleeding with litteraly seconds to go and I had to have a full blood transplant (8 pints). I fell into a coma and woke up 4 days later on life support. It was the most horrific thing I have ever been through! After I woke I was in hospital for nearly a month. During this month I was told that I had severe malnutrition and my body hadn't been getting nutrition for years since my pancreas failed and turned to stone (calcified). Then almost daily they gave me another diagnosis of another potentialy fateful and disabling illness. I now have 11 major illnesses including Type 1 diabetes, osteoporosis and chronic pancreatitus to name a few. So basically I don't have many years left. I have begged and begged all my 11 consultants, Dr's, psychiatrists, Nurses, Mental health workers and every single person I could think of to direct me to somewhere that I can learn to accept this to no avail and after 5 years of looking and 3 suicide attempts I have finally found this group. Am I in the right place? Have I finally found somewhere that other people can understand what I'm going through?Thank you so much!

Jason x

hey Jason

You in in the right place if you say you are - we are not here to judge your eligibility 😊💙.

It sounds like you’ve had a hell of a time.

We are all adjusting to the new reality of realising that we are mortal.

Some people strive to do great and momentous things once they are served with a shortened life expectancy, personally, I just want to surround myself with people that I enjoy and do things that I enjoy - I’ve been cutting out those who are toxic to my sense of wellbeing

There is a huge wealth of knowledge, experience and compassion here Jason!

Talk, ask, waffle, rage - as you wish and there'll be someone who has either experienced it or hallucinated it due to the sedation in ICU.

There are no stupid questions, only stupid illnesses!

Kind regards

Glen

You def HAVE found the right place! I've finally got a psychology appointment to help me plus sent for all my medical records ....that really helped my head with all the post ICU stress. I too was seconds away from death and it takes a long time to come to terms with it . People say 'you're lucky to be alive' ..but that doesn't help at all when you feel so ill physically and mentally 6 months after ICU. Keep hassling for help with coping ....you deserve it . Good luck!

Hello Jason.

You’re definitely in a good place. I came across this site while looking for some support as I tried to recover from a long hospitalisation. It’s almost 2 years since I first was rushed to hospital and I’ve struggled to recover. It’s quite common I guess. If you’re in need of a chat, let me know.

Cheers
