I have had sepsis three years ago due to a kidney infection and e coli . I lost most of my hair now. I’m still losing hair and now is extremely fine. Anyone still experiencing hair loss this long? Please help.

hair loss after ICU is normally temporary. It might start to fall out a couple of months after the initial trauma and therefore feel unconnected. I found my hair started to thicken again after about 6 months.

Your experience seems not to fit this profile since it is still happening years later. I would suggest speaking to a doctor about it to see if there are other factors at play.

I am experiencing some hair loss again somce i got sepsis in 2020. For me though its stress. Before you go to a dermatologist, I would suggest blood tests to see if you are deficient in any vitamins. My sister who didn’t go through sepsis but had chronic mono, it evolved into alopecia. and she is following medical medium protocols so she can avoid medication and she is doing great.

We read a lot about how the microbiome in our gut has a lot to do with everything including hair loss!

Castor oil applied topically or jojoba are both great for the hair follicles. I also take ashwaganda for stress.

Our bodies need some time to heal. I hope this helps!

Hi, Its only hair right, we are alive. So why does it make us feel so, so miserable and depressed? I know just how you feel. I was in icu for 3 months December 2019 to march 2020 on ECMO for just under a month. My hair was falling out by may . I seemed to leave a trail of hair wherever I went!!

It has stopped mostly. But now it is so very fine and fragile. Nothing I've tried has helped so far. Like you I'd be greatful if anyone has any tips.

Try not to stress, not easy I know.

talk to doc and get your bloods checked for deficiencies - ICU leaves us really mineral & vitamin depleted.

Anecdotally- I couldnt get rid of a flaky scalp after ICU - so I tried a remedy which did work ( for me) - it also made my hair glossier. Now it sounds implausible- I washed my hair with soap not shampoo - rinsesd it out / then rinsed it with white vinegar ( like a conditioner) & rinsed it out.

Firstly my hair didn’t stink of vinegar AND it helped 😊
