Waking, how long before sedation starts to ware off it’s been 1 week. My friend is still on ventilator but we are happy he’s alive!

Also my friend not only has his eyes open for one week and looking around after they started removing the sedation drugs but they say he’s not responding to pain? Should this be a cause for concern if it’s only been one week? The pneumonia infection is gone and Covid is gone!

We just want him to come back to us! How long does it take for your brain to respond and tell your lungs to breathe? When do you start to see that person inside, not just their eyes open but nobody home?
