The ICUSteps groups are very supportive. I was lucky enough to find ICUStepsChester who provide drop ins every week for both patients and relatives as well as a number of different exercise classes. All on zoom. I wouldn’t be where I am now without their supoort
You are brilliant considering what your body has been through. It will be a gradual journey but strength will come back. 1 year after my brother was lying critically ill on ECMO he was out for a run. He came out of hospital walking with a stick. My previously fit non smoking younger brother played football and ran every week. Good luck with everything
thanks im getting there think my pre fitness helped, it was the 134 days in bed and 33 in a coma that im suprised at , no hosp in my life then ......... in support Arthur
I’m like you, I’d never really been in hospital in my adult life, 57 day coma & 120 days in hospital was a rude awakening to being mortal.
Thankfully I’d been active all my life and stopped smoking 28yrs ago - one of the contributing factors that saved my life.
We do several weekly exercise sessions on zoom if you are interested. icustepschester.org - why not try them out - it won’t cost you anything just a bit of time 😊
hi nice to touch base how long ru out ...im with icu steps southport 1 session so far ...will try contact with Chester.....im getti9ng stronger daily
Excellent. I’ve been out of ICU for 5yrs BUT I’ve been treated for leukaemia for the last 5yrs with a couple of serious hospital admission last 2yrs - so not a clear picture.
If you are eager to rebuild your strength & stamina our exercise sessions may really interest you 😊
