My dad has been in the hospital since Dec.23, 2020. He was put on a ventilator Jan. 16, things were not looks good but after almost week 8 days doctors were able to lower his ventilator down to 75% and my dad was responsive to doctor and my mother (he would move his head and try to open his eyes). As of last night Jan. 30 he is starting to go backwards the doctors are saying he is retaining to much carbon dioxide and it’s not flushing out, blood pressure is a little low. The doctor says he can do a trachea cause he’s not stable. Has anybody experienced this.

My father-in-law had COPD which took him to ICU eventually. He did have Hypercapnia which complicated the whole awful episode. Eventually his CO2 levels were reduced.
