Relatives of COVID survivors, I need your help please.

I am a qualified health professional looking to set up a COVID rehab programme in the community. The programme will be for patients 6-8 weeks after their hospital discharge and include patients that have had an ITU stay due to COVID. I am keen to include an education session for relatives of survivors and would be interested to hear what sort of content people would be interested in.

Hi Rooftop1 ICUsteps are running webinars at the moment discussing issues around recovery. You can catch up on the 3 done so far at ICUsteps Live on YouTube. To help you find it the first webinar is at youtu.be/0KBquGYkgxg. ICUsteps Chester run a relatives group on zoom on Tuesday evenings at 7 pm and if you approach them I am sure that they would mind you sitting in on one.

Where are you planning the rehab course will take place?

Think you should cover fatigue, graded exercise and overcoming cognitive issues, all of which were my biggest issues in first 12 weeks out of hospital. Cheers !

Thank you, all of that will be covered in the patient’s education section, I am trying to get an idea of what the relatives of COVID survivors would find helpful.

Managing their own trauma. Recognising PTSD in both the person that’s been in hospital in themselves. Being able to separate the person being annoying from simply displaying symptoms of PTSD anxiety et cetera
