Hi, I can totally relate to how you are feeling. I was ventilated for just over 2 weeks. I suffered with a lot of flash backs & vivid dreams. If you speak to your go they will give you details of local councillors that you can self refer to. I found seeking help early to be beneficial. I do still have some dreams but nowhere near as distressing. I found the hardest thing to deal with other than the dreams, is fatigue, try not to do too much. I did & suffered for doing too much with utter exhaustion. Hope that helps. Good luck with your recovery.

Hi Willicecot. One of the things I have learnt through this forum is that everyone is different likewise the support available within the various health authorities is also different. Cognitive therapy is not availAble at the moment in our area.
For me after 6-8 weeks of sedation / ventilation and nearly 4 months after leaving hospital I haven’t had any new nightmares / hallucinations but I still relive them. It’s difficult to explain but I know they are not real but they still have their own reality. I was lucky and found ICUstepschester, not in my geographical area, where through technology I have received both mental and physical support.
