The third corner

I’ve posted a few times but feel I must post again tonight . After 3 weeks and 4 days in a rehab ward and nearly 6 weeks ICU previous to that , tonight I have my husband back home . This is a day I never thought I would have and I am so grateful to all the staff that pulled him through at the hospital , and everyone of you on here that shared your stories thoughts and prayers . Everyone of you are my hero’s and I wish you and your families the best possible outcome and a chance to turn the corners as I have . My husband is still very frail and it will take a long time to build him up but one more corner and we should be there . My prayers , love , and thoughts are with you all xxxx

Amazing!! Delighted to hear this. Are they on oxygen atm? What’s their mobility like? It must be an amazing, surreal feeling to have them home. I hope and pray we all get the same opportunity.

Ps let’s all stay in touch and support rehab journeys too. You all feel like my extended virtual family friends who genuinely know how I’ve been feeling of late.

God bless us all.

Really good news. Make sure you keep time for yourself. My wife goes for an hours walk every day just before I get up. Don’t forget that whilst you are now the carer he needs to have room to make decisions for himself - even if they are wrong! Your life together restarts.

Oh I am made up for you both. That’s just the best news to start the day. Your story has been very like mine and whilst I am yet to have my husband home I know it will happen at some point so can only imagine how you must be feeling. I’m sure you are scared of the future but prepared to do whatever it takes. So, so happy for you xx

Hi. I am 8 weeks out now, having spent 11 days in icu and 5 in recovery ward.

I had almost zero support from my GP. In the absence of this, I have found out a lot of info and support. Personally, I found the mental side ( memory, concentration and organising) the hardest.

If i can help you in any way please ket me know. Best wishes for your husbands recovery. Don’t under- estimate the impact on yourself either

Best wishes, Pete
