Hi I'm New to the site just getting used to android phone . I was in critical care in coma in October 19 and been home since November . Recovery much slower than I thought . Was ill before the op I had and health and anxiety much worse than what it is ever was . And worried about future hospital appointments and admissions especially with the covid now but wonderful husband , supportive daughter amongst loved 3 and all grandchildren reason for me to carry on . Not always as negative as today as can sometimes laugh at things . Thanks for getting back to me shows I signed in ok thankyou

It can take up to a year to feel like you are getting back to your normal after being on ICU. It’s very hard to stay patient with the slow pace of recovery. You are not alone, a lot of people are very anxious about this virus even ex-ICU patients from years ago.

Recovery takes a long time. Try and note down ( even just mentally) different things that you achieve each week. Climbing a flight of stairs without stopping, getting into the bath and out on your own - and in a dignified manner, no longer dropping everything you pick up, remembering your husband’s name first time 😜, crouching, kneeling for the first time - small important steps forward. Be patient with yourself too.
