Hi Ally I too was on ECMO last year at Guys hospital . It is scary and confusing but with time things do get easier. I hope you are finding the help you need to come to terms with your experience. Take care x

Ally, it's lovely to hear from you at last. It's tough on you. In fact this recovery stage is harder on you than if you'd died. Hopefully you'll recover fully in time but you may have to accept you'll never get back to how you were.

However, you are not alone. You have a husband who adores you, two children who need you and an army of comrades who have walked this path before and are here to hold your hand as you get back to the best you can be.

This is my motto: Life may be hard, I may be in pain but I'm supposed to be dead and however bad it gets it's better than the alternative. Some days you'll never have to tell yourself that and somedays you'll recite that in your head like a mantra.

Good luck

Lynn x

Hi Lynn,

I absolutely love when we hear from you. I always know that Ally and I have a friend and fellow survivor in our corner.

As i said before, Ally was released too early. A week after she was released I had to fly to Korea for work.. 2 days later,April 30, Ally had to call an ambulance because she was having a tough time breathing. The pneumonia and MRSA was back. Well, it probably never left. As they did not check her lungs when they discharged her. F---ing incompetent doctors. Ally is at a different hospital now, and receiving 100% better care. She is finally working with a respirologist, a physio, and an occupation therepist. They are even setting her up with home care. What a world of difference.

We are still going to lodge ba formal complaint against the other hospital when I get home. It won't help Ally but hopefully it will help someone else. After the fight that you, Ally and so many others have won, it is such a shame how you are treated. It is time to change this. Together, I feel we can make this change happen! We just have to be vocal. If we say nothing, you amazing fighters will continue to suffer once leaving ICU. And I can't live with that. So please, lets all make our complaints heard. It is never too late.

From the bottom of my heart, Thank you Lynn.

Sincerely,

Marc
