I cannot take HCQ because I have a heart condition called Long QT Shame because it worrked really well.

AZA is the only drug to control the autoimmunes I can take and along with 10mg of prednisone (steroids) it keeps it a bit more bearable.

You need regular liver profile tests and keep a check on blemishes that appear on the skin, particularly the arms.

I find AZA isn’t as good as HCQ but if u can’t have that and need something it’s worth a try x

I began taking it once a day at 50mg, after dinner in November. It lowered my anti cardiolipin from >200 to 20 and all other antiphospholipid to just above 20. I am still taking it at 50 mg. but my legs are covered with petechiae and purpura again. I am seeing a dermatologist in April. My doctor does not want to change the low dosage until I see the dermatologist.

My liver panel was very high a few months after starting the Imuran but now it is back to normal and I did not change anything. So maybe my body adjusted to it.

I did not experience any side effects.

I have APS and SLE and was put on AZA for auto-immune hepatitis.

My body couldn't tolerate AZA at all - kept ejecting it in spectacular fashion. eventually changed to something else, also no good. The tried Mycophenolate - much better tolerated.
