I just had a surgery I had to have my gall bladder removed whilst I was out of the country so it’s been a little tough.
I’m so gutted as I’m on hrt patches Evorel Sequi have been on it for a year now I had to come off the tablets after getting a tia where by was diagnosed with antiphospholipid.
My heamotoligist has written to my doctor and now she’s refusing to give it to me I’m 48.
Can anyone give me advise I’m not prepared to come off the patches yet and I will try to buy them I don’t know what to do.
Am I being selfish?
Is does anyone know of something else I can use

Hiya, although transdermal patches are safer, and still, rightfully so, most doctors are going to be cautious about any HRT particularly estrogen based medication which is a no no, but I include this for your via Prof Beverley Hunt, you could perhaps give this to your consultant which would then hopefully trigger some research into your own particular case: thrombosisuk.org/admin/reso... I hope you can read this, if not I will copy ad paste it. MaryF
Hi, I have just read your previous post and you say you have had several episodes of TIAs? Have they now put you on anticoagerants?I understand your worry about stopping hrt patches, I wasn't allowed on them after my hysterectomy, so had to cold turkey with the menopause, not pleasant but I got through it.
Talk all this through with your GP, lay all your worries on the line, you should be part of the discussion weighing the pros and cons. There are safe patches, if need be get a second opinion.
Sorry you’ve had a rough go- and all the best with continued healing.
My heamatolgist and gynecologist said in no form at all could I be give HRT. I went through it naturally.
I did look at it this way- for eons women did it naturally- so can I! At least I have modern luxuries like indoor plumbing, water.. electricity... and other medications... it did help me put it into perspective. ( when advertising about blissfully happy women promoting HRT came on TV or in magazines... just quickly look away!!!!!🤣)
I was about to suggest you talk it over with your haematologist rather than your GP but I see you’ve already thought of it! GP will not override your consultants decision so it is your consultants opinion that you need to change. Good luck, but also take the safe option if the other is risky! Xx
HiI am on Vagifem pessaries 10 micrograms and find them very good. I was told by my GP they were the safest thing to use and was not allowed patches due to my APS.
