Anyone have a recommendation on a multivitamin that is okay to take with warfarin? I feel I would benefit from one especially since my hair is falling out due to my lupus or the warfarin use.

Hi, I'm not on warfarin so can't advise, we do always say check with your doctor before taking any vitamins etc..
I just wanted to check have you had your ferritin & iron levels checked recently?
I lost a lot of hair over a period of 2 years while my ferritin was getting low, (low but in range, kept being told it wasn't that!).
I had an infusion back in January and after about 6 mths my hair started growing back and is getting a lot thicker.
When you say you had an infusion, HollyHeski, was this a red cell transfusion? Or an iron infusion. I have been told that a red cell transfusion is being arranged for me.
I was also told a few months back that my folic acid was very depleted, so have to take liquid folic acid every morning. I do have anaemia and also pernicious anaemia ( depletion of B12) so have B12 injections.
I also lose a lot of hair but then have low thyroid, on thyroxin.
Hi, iron infusion, my red count was fine, my ferriten was 25 for over a year, which is normal for most, but with sjogrens, this can be a false high. I had a job convincing doctors but my haematologist took control and arranged for me.
IMHO, don’t take anything without your consultant’s knowledge.
If you also have systemic lupus erythematosus, you should see your lupus specialist and if necessary, a dermatologist specialist in lupus.
It’s important to understand the cause of this hair loss and get appropriate treatment.
You can find more information at LUpus Patients Understanding & Support (LUPUS) at HealthUnlocked or here: lupus-support org
With good wishes,

Ask your doctor for a blood test to check your iron stores different from anaemia and low folic acid, don’t take meds without consulting your Doctor or pharmacist
Hi, as Warfarin plus other medication can be sent haywire by adding in supplements and new things, please DO, go and check with your GP and or consultant, it is very important that you do this. I am not on Warfarin, and am on many different supplements but they have all been checked out against things I take, plus the dosage, and input from a very good nutritionist who has trained for decades. I'm on multiple supplements but was already on them before starting Warfarin. As the others say speak to your consultant before taking anything.
Which supplements to take with warfarin can be tricky. Back in the day ( and many docs still live back in the day,) patients were told to avoid all foods and supplements which might effect warfarin's effectiveness. Recently trained docs now suggest doing your warfarin homework and modifying warfarin dosage to accommodate nutrition needs. But your provider does need to be in the loop.
One easy diet modification can be ( I keep repeating myself-sorry) trying a gluten free diet. Gluten is the indigestible protein. and, so, as the intestines try and try to accommodate this complex molecule the intestine villi become inflamed. And inflamed villi do not doing a good job at absorbing complex vitamins and minerals. Like iron, B12, B6, A. Which can result in a lot of minor, and serious body dysfunctions.
