Hi. Are we ok to have peppermint tea ?
Tea: Hi. Are we ok to have peppermint... - Hughes Syndrome A...
Tea
Hi Amy,
Have not heard we can not have it. I drank it last time yesterday evening.
Kerstin in Stockholm
As long as it does not read , “ green tea” it’s fine. ( and I’ve never seen that.)
I use Twinnings.
I drink it every night- and keep it beside my bed throughout the night every night.
It’s my night time ritual to keep myself hydrated.
I have taken it but just read this article regarding heart valves and / or warfarin.
Warfarin “intoxicatiion?”
This article states mint tea can “ raise” the INR, correct? Is that right? Did I read both patients contraindications to the mint tea correctly?
We tend to have trouble with out INR plummeting for the most part , at least the vast majority of us.
Would you agree , Holly, that it’s safe to say that as long as you have mint tea , the same brand in the same quantity ( consistency is key) that it should not affect the INR?
( I really don’t want to give up my mint tea if you hadn’t noticed! And for me personally, I am struggling to keep my INR in range- but I do struggle with fluctuations- which may be contributing to migraines. So this is great information. Sometimes when I’m super tired I make very diluted apple juice for the bed side table instead because it’s so much quicker- and my husband is yelling at me to hurry up to bed. Now I’m going to be diligent in making hot mint tea because I enjoy it more- I’m always freezing- I really need the heat- and I now know I need the consistency for the INR.
Amy! Thanks for posting this question- and Holly- thanks for finding the research!
❤️👍🏻🤗
I am not on warfarin so not something I need to watch but when I was, yes, consistency is the key!
When I was on warfarin, my love is coleslaw (white cabbage is high vit K), so I was told eat it everyday and same amount, won't be a problem.
So mint tea, yes just have everyday, same make and quantity. Just be careful when you start on it. And enjoy xx
Think I will just give it a miss 😉
