Hi, in the first instance it is looking at your INR, if that is not right that will make things worse, the other things to look at our vitamin D, B12 and Iron, making sure nothing is out of balance with those, another area is Thyroid problems, poor thyroid function can make people have terrible brain fog. Lastly gluten, I have problems with allergies, and after giving up gluten, my brain fog did clear some of the time, I still get it, but not to the same extent. MaryF
My doctor looked my vitaminas, irons and thyroid gland quite often and right now I am taking medication for the thyroid but I still feel that brain fog and my doctor says sometimes it is anxiety, I am not crazy, I know I suffer anxiety but that thing is not anxiety and I do not Know what to do. In Spain there is no good doctors as in England for example, doctors know too little about this illness. I am working and saving money, do you Know if I can get in a future an appointment with someone from England? >Thanks for everything
Kind regards
Ana

Hi anaastgal,
Hope Spain is a country with Doctors who are specialized in Autoimmun illnesses like Hughes Syndrome. If you have such a Doctor he will understand that we have very thick blood that has to be properly thinned.
I do not know how many antibodies you have got or what other symptoms you have but if you have both venus and arterial clots, which most of us have, you need a higher INR of at least 3.5-4.0.
But if you are on an oral anticoagulation-drug it can be very difficult, as no such drug is available for us who need the higher INR, as we have arterial clots. They have no antidot either as Warfarin and LMW Heparin have. You know if you have got the right drug on how your symptoms behaves.
It must be the same premises for you in Spain I guess.
Best wishes from Kerstin in Stockholm
Hi! I am on oral anticoagulation, the brain fog is something unpredictable that comes from time to time, maybe one per month, but when it occurs I am afraid, Afraid of going to work or to do an exam feeling like that. DO you think that maybe shoult I take another medication? or is it normal? Thanks
Regards
Ana
As Mary says it could be a Thyroidea-issue as well as bad effect from an oral anticoagulationdrug.
What sort of oral anticoagulationdrug are you on and were you once diagnosed by antibodies or by symptoms and what were the symptoms more than brain fog?
I like your idea to look for a Specialist in Spain or in England if that is necessary. He can tell you what treatment you need.
Good Luck and please stay with us here and let us hear how it goes for you!

I am on rivaroxaban which i took since I suffered a DVT, after that I suffered migrain, dizziness, brain fog, weakness, sadness and anxiety but keeping my head in another matters helped me to fight against every simpton, the thing that much worried me is the brain fog because as you may know, it mades u feel loss and even useless.
Of course I will be in this group for long, everyone is helping me when I do not know to whom ask for help. Thanks again! =)
Get a Doctor who understands autoimmun illnesses and that both HS/APS and Thyroidea can act together in this circumstances and that you have to be treated and carefully tested for both illnesses. They are like "cousins" but there are some Doctors somewhere who can help you. It is a fight. Try to learn also as knowledge is power!
When you have these illnesses you feel low (especially if the tests for Thyroidea are not correct) so I hope you can find that Doctor. Mary knows this very well
