Can sticky blood occur just once after an operation should it be checked by hospital after
Hi, do you have a diagnosis of Hughes/APS? In answer to your question it is possible to have a clot develop after an operation, but this is not just limited to people with the diagnosis of sticky blood. If you have had an operation and have concerns please go straight back to your original hospital consultant or local GP. MaryF
What happened my granddaughter had a small op and had to stay in hospital she was treated with heperin and told she had sticky blood. She again went in for another small op unfortunately she died age just 29 we have been told she had a reaction to drug was wondering if sticky blood might have played some part
Thanks
I am so sorry to hear what has happened with your family. If she had a diagnosis of sticky blood, (Hughes/APS), then in the first instance the Heparin would have been a fairly standard drug treatment. With this diagnosis, for the next operation presumably she had similar care? You need to find out exactly which drug she was supposed to have reacted to.
Please if you are trying to get to the bottom of all this, do enlist some support along the way. You need a trusted family friend to be your advocate, also: This charity might be your first port of call: avma.org.uk/ and you need to also contact the Health Ombudsman if you are not satisfied with how your inquiries have been handled. Please feel free to ask us questions, if we can help you we will. MaryF x
We were told that the sticky blood was a one off ,at the moment it's in the hands of the coroner .we have a lot of unanswered questions they seemed to put no importance to the sticky blood ,it was only through the internet that we realize how dangerous this condition is .So I saw health unlocked and thought I would make some inquires .As you might gather we are all shell shocked at moment

Hello
Like my colleagues I feel for you and you should put all available evidence in front of the coroner.
