Off to get my hip replaced. .

. . . at Duke on Monday. I have bridged from warfarin to lovanox and I wanted to say THANKS!! to all who manage and contribute to this site. I remembered the injection advice to push that plunger down as slow as possible and -- voila! -- indeed! No bruising! Yeah!

Yesterday I chowed down on home made kale chips and for dinner tonight I am cooking beef liver.

I'll probably bridge back to warfarin after the surgery, but in the time being . . . . liver! Yeah! leafy greens! Yeah! Ginger! Yeah!

* OK, sorry if I'm rubbing it in for all you warfarin readers -- but hey! I've faithfully followed the warfarin diet for 12 years! Hip surgery is very scary so I might as well celebrate what I can! Bring on the spinach salad, and the pate, and the liver and onions, and the carrot/ginger soup! Eating healthy was never so much fun!

Hi Gina

You could try to get them to let you stay on Fragmin full time :)

I wouldn't willingly go back onto Warfarin.

Good luck and keep in touch.

Best wishes.

Thank you all for the support. It is 12:20 AM and I again, can't sleep due to that cursed, invisible troll who chews on my hip at night. I trust he shall be banished soon. And again, thanks for the support.

All the best, Gina! Any surgery is scary surgery, but once you get through that the hard part starts....recovery! You'll be in warm aqua therapy in no time at all wondering why you let this go so long and how soon can you get the other one done. So much of the healing process is attitude and, you certainly have attitude! May time pass quickly so you can eat anything you like at the upcoming Thanksgiving dinner along with thanks that we incredulously have the ability to exchange a human hip. Really quite remarkable. I wonder what my great grandmother would have thought. Good luck. I send smiles, prayers, and all good tidings, Gina. Warm wishes, Canary

Thanks, of course I may never need the other hip replaced. This as always been only a left hip problem. (parents messy divorce, broken right knee cap from skating tumble, and more additional details to take up 3 seasons of Peyton Place.)

Take care Gina,

Don't forget to enjoy a glass of wine or two, good for the circulation and the spirit.

Hope all goes well x
