Does anyone have any information regarding skin necrosis.

My sisister has contacted me to day to see if I knew anything about skin necrosis (she has a the same condition as I do thrombophillia, prothombin gene mutation and is on permanantwarfarin) she has large black patches on her legs which the dermatologist told her in a dismissive manner that it was skin necrosis. No advise or reason given for this condition. Does anyone know if this is related to the blood condition or the treatment?

Best wishes everyone. Thank you.

Hard to say because warfarin in rare cases can cause skin necrosis that can be pretty serious, and also can be caused by the condition. I think she should demand more answers as if it is the warfarin then I would question if there is an alternative treatment for her.

I fished around and found this. I find if one is not listened to by say a GP practice/consultant a new set of eyes at the nearest walk in sometimes does the trick. This article is only intended as a guide for you: Please let us know how you get on: dermnetnz.org/reactions/war...

If you go into Tags -3rd section you can see necrosis. There were 9 excellent comments from the question I asked re necrosis. I'm afraid I've had no answer from local GP when I had the calf /severe pain/bruising after airflight 4 months ago. Dopple test for 'supected DVT' was negative- but said perhaps' fat necrosis'. Perhaps a new GP might help me- as still bruising. and more problems. Hope you get some answers
