I have hughes & tonight have experienced the above & it is not going away...It may be nothing but I feel a bit scared... Any ideas what it is...xxxx
I am suddenly getting a tremor in my ... - Hughes Syndrome A...
I am suddenly getting a tremor in my hands & a slight numbness/heavy feeling in my arms...
Best to get anything like that checked out - but i get a lot of that and my neurotherapist said its nerve pain/damage due to aps, however you should have anything nasty ruled out before you can safely say its nerve problems xx
Hi Emmaj: You absolutely need to have that checked by a neurologist. I got my right hand tremor a few days after my stroke and it increased with time, severe stuttering along with some other subtle symptoms. Clonazepam or brand name Klonopin is what was prescribed for me and it works beautifully... until it wears off. Then it's hopeless to talk. It stops the tremmor as well, which can really get violent when meds wear off. I'm on only 1 mg in the AM and 1mg in PM. It was a stroke and needed to be documented in my medical file, which was done via MRI/MRA with contrast to the brain.. Some things didn't change, right side face sag, left side weakness, left eye lid drop (that freaks people out) and things I don't even notice anymore. You need to call your doctor, explain your symptoms and ask for an MRI/MRA to look for stroke. I hope they rule it out, but you shouldn't have to wonder. Find out! Don't wait. It could be any number of things. But don't be afraid, it could be something very minor. That's why we need those darn doctors. They have the tools and knowledge to tell the difference.
Warm wishes, emmaj,

I'm learning fast APsnot! Just not today.
Smellyfootsies ..... I agree definitely get it seen to
Definately worth ringing NHS direct and getting advice as it could be a clot somewhere if you need a brain scan with contrast don't be scared, I had one last Monday, the machine is big and noisy with alot of clunking and whirring. The contrast dye makes me feel quite nauseous about 48 hours later but that's the only after effect I get. I've had numerous with and without the dye. Good luck and try leaving a message with these comments so we know your ok x x
I am currently the same smellyfooties. About 6 weeks ago, it came on, I was suffering from terrible back ache, and just put it down to bad sleeping position, but I'd been troubled for months, however one day I woke up and my arm was very heavy, pins and needles....no grip, and it was difficult to do anything, I went straight to GP, who organised an X-ray same day, which came back with nothing, so it has been assumed that its nerve damage...I'm awaiting a Physio appt, ( 3 weeks into a 7 to 11 week wait!!! ) ... I was getting to stressed with things, one day I could not even get dressed for work, but long story short, I'm currently off work, and not 'using' my arm,and it is certainly making a difference, I'm doing basic tasks.. Washing, dressing, light housework etc etc, but no where near my usual level of activity...obviously my concern is when it comes time to return to work!! ... But I will deal with it then! ... All the best smellyfooties Sarah x
Hi again, I just been reading your profile and see you have pre existing heart condition, id say ring the gp asap and get some medical advice. Are you feeling nauseas at all? If U ring your gp reception they'll get them to phone back. Fingers crossed its just the normal aches that go with Hughes better safe than sorry and don't worry about feeling silly ringing them. Just remember you know somethings not right otherwise U wouldn't have posted on here for advice. Go ring get some proper advice x x
OK, I am going to display my ignorance here since I am in the U.S.
It gets beaten into our heads through TV advertisements that if you think you are having a clotting stroke it is critical that you get to an ER asap. They have clot busting drugs that if used within a few hours can minimize permanent damage.
If you went into an ER in the UK and told them you thought you might be having a stroke wouldn't they be likely to perform the necessary tests?
Hope you feel better, and the GP was a good port of call? Mary F x
