What is HS linked to?

I suffer from HS and I’m starting to think that it’s either alcohol related or hormonal. Please can anyone confirm to me what supposedly triggers HS flare ups?

I think mine is 100% hormonal. I find 2 weeks before my time of the month I flare up, this carry’s on until I finish my period. So basically I get 1 week a month we’re I may not be so bad. Although, if I’m stressed in work etc I also feel this contributes.

Definitely hormonal. When I started birth control it cut down on flare ups by legit 95% for me.

Hidradenitis is caused by excess tnf alpha in your body.

This is an issue with the immune system

Taking humira, a tnf binder puts mine into remission for 10 months of the year

I have the Depo Provera injection and they seemed to have got worse since being on that.. when I first started getting them, I always thought it was down to cleanliness but I shower/bath everyday. Especially with the ones on my armpits.

Depo made mine go from stage 1-3 almost immediately, it's been a year since my last shot and it's finally back to stage 1. They say added progesterone helps with HS but I obviously strongly disagree.

My issue is, is that I need the Depo injection to stop my mood swings. I am taking 2 sets of antibiotics now which I will finish mid December, so far whilst being on them, I’ve had orange coloured urine and other and I’m just recovering from a water infection. Doctors don’t know if that was a side effect or just my body in general.

If it was cleanliness related I’d have been rid of it 20 years ago

I was a junior competitive swimmer in the pools 6 mornings a week

Showered before and after and again every evening.

It’s caused by an overactive immune response which can be treated with Humira

I’ve personally found that shaving triggers mine
