Hello all,

I haven't yet switched, but am fully aware that generic medication is gradually coming into the HIV sector. Has anyone got any experience of switching? What was/is it like? Did you have to change routine? Did your clinician talk to you first?

Regards

James

hi There I was on Atripla, one combination tablet a day and was told by my consultant that I would be changing to Truvada and Efavirenz which is the same but two tablets. These are a lot cheaper and I have not had any adverse reactions.

Hi, i know plenty of people who have switched, with no problems at all. Its just like changing to paracetamol when you used to get panadol. Those who had to split their atripla to truvada efavirenz may have been slightly put out by having 2 tablets, but no change to routine. And the savings to NHS are huge. And the pressure on drugs companies is working, triumeq prices dropped when it stopped being prescribed and changed to kivexa dolutegravir - and people got switched back.
