Rash
Hello
I wasn't given Ribavarin as part of my treatment but I did get told to avoid a few certain types of food whose enzymes react with the meds. I had spates of urticaria which is like nettle rash. With both these things I learned, or was told to, avoid:
Grapefruit, including juices. Red or pink grapefruit juice in particular for me.
Marmalade. Seville oranges in particular.
Jaffa cakes. Yes, these use the offending oranges.
Try to keep your diet as simple as posssible during your treatment, all veg is good, simple drinks, teas, soups. I gave it about 3 months after treatment and had grapefruit, marmalade on toast followed by Jaffa cakes with no reaction.
Creams, new washing powders, etc didn't make a difference (except for the extra anxiety of trying to find the reason). It was definitely what was happening inside my body that was causing the rashes.
I hope that helps a little bit.
You absolute beauty
I had been fine but then we made a large batch of marmalade
Thanks for that I will try and modify my diet more avoiding those foods I feel like I’m wearing nettle clothes and sleeping in a nettle bed with biting mosquitos it’s realllypushed me to the edge
I’ve been bathing in Dead Sea bath salts in a warm bath before bed, also, using Burts Bees vitamin E baby oil on my skin, even the sensitive laydee parts, it has helped an awful lot. I’m kicking myself about the sodding marmalade though ...
Try nettle tea, nettle soup, etc. I used it, a case of "like fighting like". Might help a bit. This won't last forever. Your body is working hard with the virus being attacked and the drugs being aggressive. So anything added that's more than really basic foods can make it show you it's overloaded, ie, a rash!
Oh that's funny. It'll keep for when you're out of the woods won't it? Worth waiting for!
Really good advice thanks much
