Hepatitis C from transfusion

Hi all

I’m new here. Trying, in vain, to gain more information to put together an appeal to the support system for those diagnosed with Hep C after a contaminated blood transfusion before 1991.

There seems to be no medical records of my mums transfusion, which is convenient!!, I’ve also been told because she has genotype 2 it’s rare in the uk and therefore she won’t be considered for help as it’s unlikely to have been given via transfusion.

There are no other places she could of contracted it from!

Anyone else been refused by the genotype? Can anyone advise me where I can find proof that genotype 2 DOES exist in the uk albeit in smaller numbers than type 1 and 3??

Thanks
