Hi my name is Lisa I have just received a call from my GP to say I have Hep C antibodies but I will need to have another test to be sure I have Hep C ..... I have been a health care worker for many years and she feels this is likely how I may have caught it .... I was tested due to having unexplained pain in my legs insomnia low mood and constant nausea .... could someone tell me if these are symptoms of Hep C ...... my daughter is on stage 5 renal treatment so I need to get a grip of things quickly as I need to be there for her ..thank you Lisa xxx

Hi Lisa, most people infected with Hep C don't have symptoms of liver disease. If they do have symptoms it's often mild, non-specific and occur after 4-14 weeks. Acute symptoms include fever, fatigue, dark urine and/or clay colored stool, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, nausea and/or vomiting, joint pain, and jaundice. Wishing you and your daughter all the best and a speedy recovery! Let us know how your second Hep C test goes.
