Hello there braders. All sorts here, people who,ve been treated with the old drugs interferon, people who,ve been treated with the new, and others who by their choice or the doctors are on a watch and wait routine. Welcome anyway. Best wishes anne x x

Thank you. Now I've had time to think things over a little, I'm back to chat with everyone and see what's what in regards to treatment. ☺

• in reply totillycindy

A-up tillycindy, apparently I have type one Hep C and interferon has been mentioned as a future treatment. Can anyone tell me the average waiting time for treatment to start? Thanks for the welcome and message. 🙂

fenderjazz• in reply toenglish74ty

Hi English 74ty which treatment are you starting?

english74ty profile image
english74ty• in reply tofenderjazz

Ribavirin and some other tabs. And hello fenderjazz

fenderjazz profile image
fenderjazz• in reply toenglish74ty

Hi there, Ribavirin I got used to taking it within a couple of weeks, my iron levels went down but leveled out. Just remember to drink plenty of water while on treatment, I drank at least 8 glasses a day, it helps with headaches which is a possible side effect. I think we all got nervous when about to start treatment, but also a sense of relief that we are going to be cured. Good luck, hope you sail through treatment like I did

PS what is the other drug you are going to be on

english74ty profile image
english74ty• in reply tofenderjazz

Viekirax and exviera. Think I've red to much into the side efforts. Making me nervous to start but I'm Starting at 7 a.m. thank you for your support

Hope things are well with you. I don,t know if anyone has suggested them to you but the Hep C trust has a very good advice line for people in the U.K. It is staffed by people who have had the treatment both old and new regimes . The National helpline ( I found them on the net) can refer you to the group nearest to you if you want to ring for advice or support. Best wishes.

Dlr35• in reply to

I'm new to this site I hope I am answering the right post I don't recommend doing interferon it has nasty side effects there are better meds now

• in reply toDlr35

Ah, I understand now. I was a newbie when I started this thread last year and this is the first time I've used it since! Anyway, cheers for the advice. 🙂

• in reply toDlr35

I haven't started any treatment yet as I've been in and out of hospital all year! But I've just been to the doctor today as it happens, I got a referral to go to the hepatology department again.

• in reply toDlr35

I'm in the UK and will be treated by our NHS professionals, so I'm not sure how much of a choice I will have when it comes to the different treatments.

Have you been through treatment for hep c and if so, what do think is the best one to try first?

Dlr35 profile image
Dlr35• in reply to

I think you should opt for the new treatments such as zepatier or harvoni if you get treated by interferon you can't be treated by the new stuff the new stuff usually will only be prescribed if you have had no treatment before I took zepatier equivalent to harvoni just less expensive. I tested negative 4 weeks after starting a 12 week treatment..

• in reply tofenderjazz

Thank you and I'm happy to hear about your successful treatment. I'm just waiting for my last blood test results to come back and then I'll be really grateful for any advice. ☺

Hi Braders,

I've had Hep c 35 years and have self treated

Hope you receive all the help/support/info you need on this and other sites

All good wishes for your recovery

Jenny ;-)

• in reply tojennyjolly

Thank you. Self treated you say, I'd love to hear some more about what you have done? 🙂

jennyjolly profile image
jennyjolly• in reply to

I take MilkThistle,Blueberry Leaf,Alpha lipoic acid,Tumeric and listen to Healtone sound frequency healing for Hep C

My tests have all come back good (fingers crossed) Thank God..I also pray a lot..

I'm a Christian..not a very good one

Also keep to healthy diet

Ie no sugars as feeds virus, low arginine,no foods with reservatrol as that increases viral replication,no red meat as high in iron

;-)

• in reply tojennyjolly

Oh no, please don't tell me I've got to cut sugar out of my diet!!! I'm afraid it's one of the last guilty pleasures I have left. But joking aside, if it helps then I will look in to doing anything to help beat the infection and limit any damage that it may cause.

Wish you success in your recovery/cure

:-)

• in reply tojennyjolly

Thanks to everyone who has welcomed me to this community and I hope ice replied to everyone? Uf not I'm apologising here, I'm using a smartphone and it's hard trying to see all the replies on the small screen. Plus I would t leave it so long until I reply next time, but I've been trying to get my head around my Hep C infection.

Anyways, thank you everyone! 🙂

jennyjolly• in reply to

I know what I've written seems contradictory re meds

I don't want to put you off as they do have a high success rate but also the side effects..

For some though not all

• in reply tojennyjolly

Oh I'm with you when it comes to big pharma, although saying that they have helped to save my life on numerous occasions. I can't help but be suspicious of companies that make a prifit from people ill health though. I do think I'll be taking whatever treatment is offered and backing that up with a few natural remedies too. ☺

jennyjolly profile image
jennyjolly• in reply to

You can't take holistic meds during treatment but before/afterwards good

Have you hda all the tests ie Viral load, fibroscan, ultrasound?

jennyjolly profile image
jennyjolly

Only natural remedies and Healtone

I'm very wary of the Big Pharma Meds

Although it's great to hear people are cleared

There are numerous forums filled with those who have cleared the virus but still have severe post treatment side effects

Wish I knew the percentage rate of those with sides and those not
