Welcome Marie,

Good to google too about hep c as you'll gather more info as you go along

Are you under a consultant yet?

The usual protocol is to have blood tests done to determine your viral load

Than ultra sound/liver biopsy to find out the health of your liver

Also a fibroscan to see if any cirrhosis present

There are very effective treatments

Your consultant will decide the right meds for you

Wish you successful treatment and full recovery :-)

Ps Please keep in touch and ask anything you want to....Jenny

I'm not under any consultant yet they say it could be 5 to 6 week before I hear from anyone

Don't worry you'll receive treatment in due course

A few weeks won't make any difference.

With treatment they'll tell you important not to risk reinfection

ie drug use/tattoos from unlicenced premises etc

Lucky you found out sooner than later.

Best wishes Marie

Always pleased to hear from you :-)

Please don't worry Marie

It's a bit of a shock when first diagnosed

Whatever your age

I found out when I was 53

I'd advise telling your close family if you get on with them ok

It's mainly only transferable through

tattoos,needles,transfusions,sharing razors,toothbrushes

Not that likely sexually but there is very slight possibilty under

certain circumstances

If you have a boyfriend/partner/husband best to tell them at the

right time

Life for a little while won't be quite the same but you'll have

treatment and be cured

You'll come through this Marie and be fine

Please feel you can write anytime xx

Aww bless u hun i wish i could give u a cuddle. Ur brother if u are close could be a great confidante and if not u got us lot xxxx

It is terrifying but its the shock more than anything. Firstly u are not going to die its a lot easier to cure nowadays and there are some new treatments available. The main thing for u right now is to not let this scare put u back on drugs u need to stay healthy as possible. Lots of fruit and veg and water (vit c is great stuff) and no booze and drugs. Not too hard unless u have an addiction which most of us do. I myself have been clean for 13months it was the hepc that shocked me and my partner into getting off drugs i hope u use this to positively change ur life. It made me realise i wanted to live xxxx
