I have suffered from tachycardia since I was in my 20’s ..I am now 72. Diagnosed with Artial Flutter in 2000 and had ablation at St Thomas. Symptom free for many years ,..but now has come back to haunt me daily ..10- 15 minute episodes every few hours..HR up to 116 and then back to resting heart rate of 58. Taking 80mg Sotalol bd, and Apixiban2.5 bd.

had a 7 day Holter in January, and typically my heart was quiet during that time, though I have captured many episodes on my Kardia … just says Tachycardia.

Every Cardiologist/ GP / Physician has said it is “ just Atrial Tachycardia “ and basically something I have to live with , but I’m finding it increasingly de habilitating, as it’s so uncomfortable, disrupts my sleep and makes me feel quite rough when having an episode. Otherwise my health is very good…BP and cholesterol good though on medication. Not overweight, no caffeine, occasional glass of red wine , healthy diet. ( most of the time )

would appreciate any tips on how to manage this better.

Thank you l

Hello, thank you for your post to the Forum. Atrial tachycardia (AT) is a type of abnormal heart rhythm, or arrhythmia. It occurs when the electrical signal that controls the heartbeat starts from an unusual location in the upper chambers (atria) and rapidly repeats, causing the atria to beat too quickly. Unlike atrial fibrillation (AF) it is more regular and more organised. I have attached a link to the NHS website that you may find helpful: rbht.nhs.uk/our-services/at...
