Beta blocker change

I have been on low dose 12.5mg metopralol succinate for a year now the doctor changed me to metopralol tartrate. As needed. Since changing it I have taken it less often but have more palps. Is this normal when going off a beta blocker does anyone know? And will it get better ? Just hoping someone has some insight. Thanks!
