I’m a 75 year old male who enjoyed reasonable health until I was whisked to hospital about 6 months ago with a fib, and since then I’ve been struggling with skipped beats, particularly at night - I’d give anything for a relaxed night’s sleep. I know so many people are in the same boat, hence my heading. But I thought I’d join the group anyway if only to be reassured by others’ similar experiences.

Welcome, you will will get an informed perspective from the good members of this site and this should help with your condition, just remember that we are all different and what helps one person does not necessarily help the next. Regarding you current condition, there are many causes for such night time symptoms, one being that your pulse rate goes too low triggering the back up mechanisms of you heart to fire off "out of sinus rhythm" beats, may be worth checking if you have a Fitbit or the like and inform your Doc accordingly.
i get alot of what your describing but they havent caught AFIB on a holter or EKG. I get those same things but i have a panic disorder and very low iron with borderline anemia have they discussed an ablation for you? I understand that can help with A Fib.
Hi Johndivney, It's bewildering and worrying at first, isn't it, and there's nothing like the support of others who are going through something similar to your own experience. There is life after (or with) AF as you'll see from being a part of this community! Welcome.
I'm turning 71 this month and have had many tests done but the doctors do not seem concerned even though I have heart episodes because I do not have pain or pass out. I have woken up in the middle of the night with episodes which scared me and I went to the hospital. I now know that getting anxious just increases the symptoms. I do the vagal maneuver and it usually goes back to normal. Watching my diet and exercising helps too.Perhaps cut back on caffeine too, especially before going to bed. Good luck!
Thank you all for your comments. I will no doubt be following this forum from now on with considerable interest.
