Hello!
Last May I was put on thyroid medication and started having PVC’s. After getting dizzy one day and having my heart rate spike to 145. My heart rate was generally in the 90s-110. My cardiologist was shocked to find I was on medication, because my thyroid levels were all within range. He took me off medication. Three EKG’s, wore a monitor for 72hrs, echo, stress test, and all my blood work came back clear. I continued to have PVCs and a higher than I would like average heart rate until the end of April. Mid April I had one intense PVC episode while driving. Only it was like a few weird bumps and then bam my heart was pounding. Before I could find a spot to pull over it was back to beating normally. After that suddenly my PVCs were gone and my heart rate was drastically lower. I joked with my husband that the Pfizer vaccine cured me. He would always roll his eyes and tell me I was just doing good job managing my stress and lifestyle choices.
Yesterday, I was doing my normal treadmill walk, stopped suddenly and sat down to help my son, a few weird beats, BAM my heart was at 210, laid down, had my husband monitor my pulse on my watch , two minutes later BAM it dropped to 115 (that sudden stop felt awful). I was seen in the ER. A ton of tests were ran, nothing to be found but a quick ticker in the 100-130 range. Two doctors said it was likely an SVT. I’m scared. I’m 34, completely healthy otherwise, and I can’t get in with the cardiologist until the 7th. I’ve read about others who have had high heart rates in 180s, but 210.... just seems like that’s not okay. I realize if it was life or death then I would be being seen sooner and not sent home, but to me this feels like I’d like to rush to figure it out. I had planned to hike with the kids this week. Is that okay? Do I just lay here in fear? Any words of wisdom or reassurance would be greatly appreciated.
