Suffering with constant ectopics. Taking Verapimil and a diuretic. Also lansoperazole and levothyroxine. Any suggestions please.
Good morning Ethel,Yes ectopics are disturbing to say the least. I found cutting out all caffeine and alcohol together with a little meditation completely eliminated them.
Also try to keep saturated fat intake to 10% or less where possible.
Hope you feel better soon.
Kind regards.
Anxiety? If the answer is yes take antidepressant. It helped me to eliminate them.
Many people here find that taking two 200mg Magnesium Citrate or Magnesium Taurate tablets a day is very helpful in providing relief from ectopic heartbeats. It has been recommended to some here by their cardiologist but the majority remain ignorant of the fact.
I started taking the citrate form and the very frequent ectopics (11%) stopped completely 2 weeks later. I have had very occasional half hour runs of ectopics but still a massive improvement on the non-stop missed heartbeats I experienced for 12 months.
I have been taking a triple mag supliment but to be honest they haven't improved just actually increased. So not sure what's going on. Thankyou for your reply tho.
If you take lansoprazole or any Proton Pump Inhibiter (any of the _ _ azoles) the decrease in normal stomach acid prevents minerals like magnesium, pottassium and some vitamins from being absorbed. This could be nullifying your magnesium supplements - it seemed to with me. PPI's are only supposed to be used short term according to their own information leaflets but Dr's appear to leave us on them forever.
I also take a magnesium supplement and make sure I'm getting enough potassium, sodium, and water. I also exercise daily, practice yoga and breathing work. Sometimes hormonal imbalances can cause them and anxiety is a big culprit. You might talk to your doctor about anti-anxiety or anti-depressant medication. Best of luck!
Hi Ethep103, as far as I'm aware getting the right electrolyte balance to support the electrical activity of your heart is crucial. Lanzoprazole and all PPI's lessen stomach acid which stops you being able to absorb some vitamins and minerals. My heart arythmias improved when I stopped taking PPI's, I realise you may not be able to. I also take magnesium supplements every day (400mg of magnezium citrate or taurate). I infrequently take a one off pottassium supplement if my arythmias start increasing again as I'm also on a diuretic all of which deplete the body of pottasium.I am not totally ectopic/arythmia free but I'm a lot better than I was. Dr Sanjay Gupta ('yorkcardiologist' on you tube) explains it all far better than me and a lot more as well so hes worth a look.
Hope this helps
